The Producer’s Current List of Things To Do:
-
Taxes (now officially late)
-
Buy a filing cabinet (headshots/drafts of scripts/bios/resumes making life in my apartment nearly impossible and eating at my kitchen table a distant memory)
-
Arrange ticket sales so that people can actually see the shows
-
Find a place for the Toronto company to sleep
-
Find a way to pick the Toronto company up at the airport
-
Figure out when the Sunshine Coast company can actually see the theater
-
Get publicity photos taken (find photographer, find makeup artist, both willing to work for ‘experience’; set a date and time myself, both Artistic Directors and the publicist are all available and awake – easier said than done…)
-
Confirm rehearsal schedule with all directors
-
Set a time for pre-tech Production Meeting
-
Attend said Meeting
-
Confirm time for the Second Director’s Roundtable
-
Attend said Roundtable
-
Gather all final drafts of scripts and label them in a folder entitled “FINAL DRAFTS” so I stop having to click open all versions of all scripts to figure out which is the latest copy
-
Make sure all scripts actually exist in final draft…it’s time to stop editing, playwrights…
-
Do my dishes
-
Do my laundry
-
Hang out with my boyfriend before he forgets what I look like
-
Swim
-
Write a hundred word description of each show for publicity purposes
-
Contact the Toronto company to figure out how to write a hundred word description of their creation piece based on Peer Gynt
-
Contact the puppet creation companies to figure out how to write a hundred word description of shows featuring shadows and socks
-
Make sure all shows actually have complete casts
-
Start sitting in on open rehearsals when possible
-
Work six shifts a week so that I can take eight days off for Tech and Run at the end of the month
-
Plan the Closing Night Party
-
Get this freaking computer fixed so that the screen light stays on for more than a minute and a half at a time
-
Back up my hard drive so that when this freaking computer dies, I don’t loose all our: contact lists, FINAL DRAFTS of scripts, copies of contracts, bios, resumes, headshots, publicity information, mailout templates, schedules, calendars and all copies of my own work….
Hmmm…come to think of it, perhaps I should start with that last task right now….
*screen goes dark*
“Damn it!
